Kenyon College is a beautiful historic campus which sits on a hill. The campus was designed primarily as a walking campus. The main thoroughfare is a gravel surfaced pathway known as Middle Path which connects the residential buildings on the north end of campus to the south academic buildings. Middle Path passes through the village of Gambier where the Post Office, Village Market, restaurants and businesses are located.
Student Accessibility Support Services (SASS) is located in Peirce Hall, third floor and the Campus Safety Office is located on beside the Post Office. There is handicapped parking directly behind the Olin Library where the Student Accessibility Support Service Office is located. The entrance to the SASS is at the front of the building. Handicapped parking is also located south of the Post Office on Scott Lane opposite the Campus Safety Office. Visitors can pick up a campus map at either location.
A state-issued handicapped parking permit suffices for parking in designated accessible spaces on campus. Guests who wish to use the handicap accessible parking spots can pick up a handicap parking placard, available at the Campus Safety Office. Please consult the Kenyon Campus Map for accessible parking and routes.
We sometimes get requests for loaner chairs, often on behalf of people who don't use wheelchairs on a regular basis but who face difficulty walking.
Club cars are available by contacting the Office of Disability Services at (740) 427-5453. Users are required to drive on college paths only. Carts are not permitted on public roads for personal safety reasons. Please follow the routes of travel on the club car map that will be provided.
Wheelchairs can be rented from Mount Vernon Service Medical Oxygen Inc., (740) 393-0202, or Foster's Pharmacy, (740) 392-0911. The Commencement and Convocation Office arranges transport assistance for guests for these special college events. Please contact Pamela Faust as faustp@kenyon.edu with questions.
Accessible restrooms are marked on the campus facility access map. Look for signs at Convocation and Commencement events identifying accessible restroom facilities or locate an usher for assistance.
Assistive listening devices, ASL interpreting, remote CART (captioning services) and large print materials are available upon request.
Please contact Student Accessibility Support Services at (740) 427-5453 to request assistance with auxiliary aids and services.
