This page outlines the learning objectives for new student programs which drive the planning of pre-orientation, new student orientation, extended orientation, and the First-Year Residential Experience
Each objective aims to fulfill the Kenyon 2020 Strategic Plan priorities, specifically Priority 1: Focus on an integrated, comprehensive experience that prepares students for post-graduate success. Priority 1 includes: (A) Strengthen the first-year experience to establish a firm foundation for success at Kenyon; (B) Make high impact experiences experiences part of every student’s learning program; (C) Collaborate across the Kenyon community to position students for post-graduate success.
The objectives of New Student Orientation are:
- To articulate the academic expectations of students and available academic resources
- To foster a spirit of independence and self-direction through self-reflection and advocacy
- To communicate the importance of health and wellness in college and share resources
- To define the importance of a residential education in building a diverse community
- To facilitate identification with and integration into the College by informing students about the history, traditions, campus culture, and engagement opportunities
