Here are some frequently asked questions about the KAP Program:

How do we Add a New KAP School or Course

Two elements are necessary to ensure the success of KAP in high schools: 1) a commitment by the schools to provide the necessary staffing, materials, and other resources needed for college level courses; 2) and qualified teachers. College-level courses demand college-level textbooks and oftentimes require specialized resources, like software or lab equipment. Schools must be able to provide these for their enrolled students. The requirements for KAP high school teachers are the same as those for the State of Ohio's College Credit Plus (CCP) program, which are as follows: "Teachers teaching College Credit Plus courses align with the Higher Learning Commission’s, which state that a teacher wishing to teach courses must have a master’s degree in the content area or a master’s degree in a different discipline and 18 or more hours of continuing education in the content area."

We will approve a prospective teacher if they have a master’s degree in the content area, or possess a master’s degree in another discipline and are currently enrolled in a graduate program in the content area with the goal of earning the required 18 credit hours. The credits must be in the content area and not generally in the education/pedagogy of the content area. We will not consider teachers who do not meet these criteria. (Plans to enroll in a graduate program in the future will not serve to meet the teacher qualification.) Please note that KAP will match the school district's contribution to offset the tuition expense for KAP teachers who are seeking additional graduate credit to become fully credentialed KAP instructors

How do I obtain a Kenyon transcript for my KAP courses?

You must submit a Transcript Request Form to the Kenyon Registrar with your signature on it and the address of the school you wish to send it to. There is a $5 fee for each request.

How much credit do I earn for a KAP course?

1 Kenyon credit is equal to 8 semester hours or 12 quarter hours. See each course description for particular courses.

How do I obtain a syllabus for my KAP class?

How do I enter grades for my KAP students?

How do I submit my course syllabus to Kenyon College?

Submit your course syllabus to Dudley Thomas as a PDF. If your syllabus is the same from year to year, re-date your syllabus so it can be posted.

How does a KAP instructor sign up for a KAP summer workshop?

What does it cost to take a KAP course?

KAP tuition will increase by $5 per credit hour for the academic year 2017-2018.

What credentials must a high school instructor possess to teach a KAP course?

Teachers are expected to meet this standard by Sept. 1, 2017. Kenyon is applying for an extension that — if granted — would push this deadline out a few more years.
