The concentration in Comparative World Literature provides the opportunity to study literature with an interdisciplinary and global perspective. Venturing beyond national and disciplinary boundaries, students have the opportunity to study literature as an international phenomenon.
Students also have the chance to take coursework in textual analytics and to gain real-world experience as part of our Comparative World Literature Hackathon team. The concentration encourages students to create — in consultation with their advisors — an individualized curriculum that best fits their interests.
The classes offered by the concentration complement advanced coursework in English, modern languages, classics and literatures. Students must demonstrate the ability to read literature in a foreign language. Study abroad is strongly encouraged.
