A cornerstone of the liberal arts experience, the study of art history explores how ideas — whether religious, political, social, scientific, philosophical or literary — ultimately influence the visual form.
At Kenyon, art history students collaborate with faculty in a close-knit department, examining objects, discussing visual images, and writing about art and architecture. Students are introduced to a broad array of art before delving into specific periods and learn sophisticated methods of art-historical research with a focus on debate and discussion.
